Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 25th district, has recently shared her thoughts on social media regarding a controversial presidential pardon and issues related to law enforcement and immigration rights.

On January 25, 2025, Rep. Wasserman Schultz criticized a recent presidential pardon given to David Dempsey. She stated that "David Dempsey beat police officers with a flagpole and sprayed their faces with pepper spray. Trump gave him a full pardon."

Later that day, she expressed her disapproval of the new president's actions concerning law enforcement officers who defended the Capitol during a past violent event. She commented on January 25, 2025: "It reeks of hypocrisy and disrespect that one of this new president’s first acts is to turn his back on brave police officers who risked their lives to protect our Capitol and democracy from a violent mob that Trump himself instigated four years ago."

On January 26, 2025, Rep. Wasserman Schultz addressed the importance of knowing one's rights when detained by police or ICE agents. She encouraged individuals to seek resources available on her website: "Si usted o un ser querido es detenido por un oficial de policía o un agente de ICE, conozca sus derechos. Visite mi sitio web para obtener recursos."
