Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 25th district, shared a series of tweets expressing her concerns about recent pardons granted by former President Donald Trump. The tweets highlight specific instances involving individuals who received pardons despite their violent actions against law enforcement officers.

On January 25, 2025, Rep. Wasserman Schultz tweeted about Steven Cappuccio, stating that he "violently beat a police officer stuck in a door." She further noted that "Trump gave him a full pardon." "Steven Cappuccio violently beat a police officer stuck in a door. Trump gave him a full pardon."

In another tweet on the same day, she mentioned DJ Rodriguez, who "tased a police officer so many times he suffered a heart attack," and similarly pointed out that "Trump gave him a full pardon." "DJ Rodriguez tased a police officer so many times he suffered a heart attack. Trump gave him a full pardon."

Further emphasizing her point, Rep. Wasserman Schultz criticized Trump's actions from his first day in office for allowing "violent criminals to roam free." She accused Republicans of supporting individuals responsible for harming law enforcement officers through various means such as beating, tasing, pepper spraying, and even killing them. "On day one, Trump let violent criminals roam free – and Republicans are standing with him, supporting people who beat, tased, pepper sprayed, and killed police officers."
