On February 18, 2025, Wasserman Schultz voiced her opposition to what she perceives as an overreach by Elon Musk and his associates regarding financial information access. She stated: "Musk & his minions want detailed financial info on every U.S. taxpayer, business & nonprofit. Congress must stop him." She emphasized the necessity for legislative action by mentioning the proposed Taxpayer Data Protection Act intended to safeguard IRS records from such entities.

The following day, February 19, 2025, Wasserman Schultz continued her critique of Musk's influence in another tweet: "Elon and his DOGE-bags have unchecked power to do what they want, and they’re using it to indiscriminately fire people with solid performance reviews." She called for bipartisan support to address these issues, urging three House Republicans to join Democrats in taking action.
