Construction Update: March 14, 2024

Construction began on Monday, March 11, 2024, after the dewatering permit was secured. Overall completion is still expected in summer 2024.

The contractor will be working along SE 1st Avenue south of Broward Boulevard overnight between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Sunday, March 17 through Thursday, March 21 and Sunday, March 24 through Thursday, March 28.

  • One lane in each direction of SE 1st Avenue within the project limits may be closed during this time. Traffic control personnel will direct traffic as needed.
  • Intermittent noise from heavy machinery, equipment and backup alarms is expected while this overnight work is taking place. The contractor will take measures to mitigate noise impacts including scheduling louder operations for earlier parts of the night, using barriers and shields, strategically positioning equipment and conducting noise level checks and training on best practices.
  • Lighting will be used to illuminate the work site. It will be aimed away from residential properties and will be shielded to illuminate only necessary work zones.
