The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with Southern Underground Industries to make improvements to the stormwater system on NE 9th Street just west of NE 26th Avenue near the Sunrise Intracoastal neighborhood.

This project includes:

  • Replacing approximately 100 feet of 20-inch stormwater pipe
  • Repairing associated structures
  • Restoring swales as needed
Construction will begin the week of Monday, January 29, 2024, and is expected to be completed in early March 2024. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Impacts

  • One lane in each direction of NE 9th Street and NE 26th Street may be closed during construction. Traffic control personnel will assist with maintaining traffic flow and access.
  • Right turns from eastbound NE 9th Street to southbound NE 26th Avenue may be restricted temporarily while work is taking place in the right turn lane. Residents may use Middle River Drive or NE 26th Avenue to access homes south of NE 9th Street during this time.
  • Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area.
Thank you for your patience as we strive to upgrade our stormwater system as quickly as possible.
