Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 25th district since 2005, has recently shared her perspectives on several pressing issues through social media. Schultz, who succeeded Peter Deutsch in Congress and previously served in the Florida Senate and House of Representatives, voiced her concerns regarding recent decisions made by President Trump.
On May 8, 2025, Wasserman Schultz criticized the dismissal of FEMA’s chief shortly before hurricane season. She expressed her disapproval by stating that “Firing FEMA’s chief just three weeks before hurricane season begins shows how little President Trump cares about Floridians’ and Americans’ safety.”
The following day, on May 9, she addressed negotiations involving Iran’s nuclear capabilities with a succinct post directing readers to her full statement: “My statement on the Trump Administration’s negotiations over Iran’s nuclear capabilities: https://t.co/reLhPRWwLF”
Later that same day, Wasserman Schultz expressed strong support for Carla Hayden amid news of her firing from the Library of Congress. She remarked that “Loved and respected by all, Carla Hayden’s Library of Congress is ‘open to all.’ But a qualified guardian of truth and national treasures like her is a threat to Trump’s mendacious corruption.” She further pledged to advocate for Congressional measures to safeguard such positions from political bias.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz was born in Queens, New York in 1966 and currently resides in Weston. She holds a BA from the University of Florida.
