Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 25th district, has taken to social media to express her views on recent political developments. Having replaced Peter Deutsch in 2005, she continues to serve as a prominent voice in legislative matters.
On June 11, 2025, Schultz criticized Republican lawmakers for their handling of tariff policies under former President Trump. She stated that “Republicans already caved to Trump’s tariff taxes that raise prices on families.” She further questioned their reluctance to assess the impact of these tariffs on military construction costs.
In another post later that day, Schultz highlighted the extended session concerning the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs funding bill. According to her tweet at 10:55 AM UTC, “We just marked up the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs funding bill from 3pm to 3am.” She accused Republicans of promoting low-quality privatized care for veterans and affirmed her party’s commitment to better support those who served.
Schultz also participated in a bipartisan vigil honoring Sarah Milgram and Yaron Lischinsky. On June 11, she tweeted about standing with colleagues against antisemitism, stating “The fight against hate should never be partisan.” She emphasized unity in combating antisemitism and expressed hope for the victims’ memories to be a blessing.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz was born in Queens, New York in 1966 and currently resides in Weston. She graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in 1988. Her career includes service in both the Florida Senate and House of Representatives before joining Congress.
