Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 25th district, recently shared several statements on social media addressing significant political and humanitarian issues.

On May 12, 2025, Rep. Wasserman Schultz expressed her relief and joy regarding the release of Edan Alexander from captivity. “Edan Alexander is finally home today after being held hostage by Hamas for 583 days,” she stated, noting her happiness at his reunion with his family whom she had previously met.

The following day, on May 13, she criticized a decision made by President Trump concerning FEMA leadership. “Firing FEMA’s chief just weeks before hurricane season starts shows how little President Trump cares about Floridians’ and Americans’ safety,” Wasserman Schultz remarked in her post.

Later that same day, Rep. Wasserman Schultz addressed concerns raised by local community members regarding immigration policies under President Trump’s administration. She wrote about her engagement with these issues: “Last night, I heard from neighbors & local leaders concerned about Trump’s lawless assault on immigrant families & shared how I’m fighting back to protect our community.” She encouraged those affected to reach out to her office for assistance.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz has been an active figure in politics since serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 1992 to 2000 and later in the Florida Senate until 2004 before joining Congress in 2005.
