Census Bureau: 11.1% of people in Broward County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 1,934,551 citizens living in Broward County in 2021, 88.9% said they were only one race, while 11.1% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Broward County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 52.5% or 1,015,505 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 28.5% and totaled 552,187 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Broward County is 1.7% higher than the state average, which stands at 9.4%.
