City Of Dania Beach issued the following announcement on Dec. 07.
The City of Dania Beach celebrates National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day to honor the service and sacrifice of the brave individuals who lost their lives on Dec. 7, 1941 as the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor was attacked by surprise by Japanese planes, killing more than 2,300 Americans. Today reminds all Americans that, as a united nation, we find the strength to overcome even the darkest of days.
The U.S.S. Arizona was completely destroyed and the U.S.S. Oklahoma capsized. A total of twelve ships sank or were beached in the attack and nine additional vessels were damaged. More than 160 aircraft were destroyed and more than 150 others damaged.
