In a series of recent tweets, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz addressed several pressing issues concerning government spending and economic policies. Schultz, who has been representing Florida’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress since 2005, is vocal on both national matters and fiscal policies that impact her constituents.
On April 24, 2025, Schultz criticized the allocation of taxpayer dollars under the current Secretary of Defense. She alleged mismanagement of funds and stated, “First $50K in taxpayer dollars to paint his house. Then he sends attack plans in an unsecured chat. Now thousands wasted on a Pentagon makeup studio.” Schultz concluded her statement urging the Department of Government Expenditure (DOGE) to scrutinize Secretary Hegseth.
Later that same day, Schultz turned her attention to economic policies, particularly tariffs. She expressed her concern over the impact of these tariffs on the cost of living, remarking, “Americans get it – we know Trump’s tariff taxes will raise prices for us all.”
The following day, on April 25, 2025, Schultz continued to focus on economic matters, advocating for fiscal policies that support working families. She tweeted, “We need tax breaks for working families who will spend it back into the economy for daily needs – not tax breaks for billionaires who will sit on it.” This statement underscores her stance on promoting equitable tax reforms to stimulate economic growth.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz has a long history in public service, representing Florida’s 25th District since 2005. She has a background in the Florida Senate and House of Representatives, with a notable political career following her BA graduation from the University of Florida in 1988.
