Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 25th district, shared several statements through social media addressing concerns about current and forthcoming policies.
On April 28, 2025, Schultz highlighted a distressing case involving Heidy Sánchez, stating, “Heidy Sánchez was torn away from her baby and sent to Cuba. Her husband and child are citizens. We must resume family reunification parole and stop Trump from ripping babies from their mother’s arms again.” Schultz urged for a resumption of family reunification parole policies to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
Later the same day, Schultz engaged with seniors and advocates to address challenges facing Social Security. She stated, “I joined seniors, advocates, and Social Security employees this morning to demand Trump and Musk stop making it harder for seniors to get their hard-earned benefits.” She emphasized the urgency of acting to protect the integrity of Social Security.
On April 29, 2025, Schultz criticized the first 100 days of the Trump administration, claiming, “Higher prices, more corruption and less secure. That’s Trump’s first 100 Days. His next 100 promises less health care, jobs and a trade war recession.” In response, Schultz articulated a Democratic vision focusing on cutting costs, passing middle-class tax cuts, and expanding healthcare access.
Schultz has been representing Florida’s 25th district in Congress since 2005, when she succeeded Peter Deutsch. Previously, she served in the Florida Senate and House of Representatives, and she holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.
