Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Florida’s 25th district since 2005, took to social media to commemorate significant occasions and address pressing political matters. Born in Queens, New York, in 1966, Schultz, a University of Florida alumna, has a longstanding history in public service including prior roles in the Florida state legislature.
On April 30, 2025, Schultz stated, “As the first Jewish woman to represent Florida in Congress, I’m proud to celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut and 77 years of Israeli independence and democracy.” The acknowledgment celebrates the relationship between the United States and Israel in recognizing this historic milestone as well as her own barriers broken as a representative.
Later that day, Schultz critiqued the early period of Donald Trump’s leadership, focusing on Democratic efforts aimed at societal improvement. She communicated, “Democrats are laser focused on making life better for Americans, while Trump’s first 100 days were total chaos. @RepJeffries made that clear today.”
Moreover, Schultz shared a bipartisan initiative concerning Florida’s environmental concerns, emphasizing, “Proud to co-lead this bipartisan call to protect the Everglades. The Everglades is a Florida treasure — we must do all we can to restore it.” This highlights her commitment to preserving environmental resources, a priority for the region she represents.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s extensive political career spans positions in both the Florida Senate and House of Representatives prior to her tenure in Congress.
