Patrick Bet-David Entrepreneur and host of Valuetainment, said that the United States has the oldest constitution in the world, while other nations have changed their constitutions dozens of times, citing his experience in Brazil to illustrate the importance of constitutional stability.

“Does anybody know what country has the oldest constitution in the world? What country has the oldest constitution in the world, including UK? We, the people, have the oldest constitution in the world.” Bet-David said at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

The U.S. Constitution was drafted in 1787 and remains the oldest written national constitution still in use, according to the National Constitution Center.

Bet-David contrasted constitutional stability in the United States with more frequent constitutional revisions in other countries.

“The Dominican Republic has changed its constitution 32 times,” Bet-David said. “Venezuela, 26 times. Haiti, 24. Ecuador, 20. Brazil’s changed it seven times in the last 100 years.”

According to the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the United States has the oldest written national framework of government in the world. While the United States has been governed by a single framework of government for over two centuries, France has had 10 separate and distinct constitutional orders, and El Salvador has had 36 constitutions since 1824.

Bet-David then pointed to his experience speaking with political leaders in Brazil.

“I’m sitting, and I’m talking to all these different senators and congressmen in Brazil, and here’s a number I noticed,” Bet-David said. “In Brazil, they have 11 Supreme Court justices, of which only two are conservative. In Brazil, they have 81 senators, of which only 22 are conservatives. In Brazil, they have 513 congressmen and women, of which only one 30 are conservatives.”

According to Britannica, Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court is composed of 11 members nominated by the president with the approval of the Federal Senate and provides final rulings on constitutional issues.

Bet-David is an entrepreneur and the founder of PHP Agency, a financial services marketing organization. He is the host of the YouTube channel Valuetainment, which focuses on business, entrepreneurship, and political commentary. Bet-David was born in Iran and later immigrated to the United States after spending time in a refugee camp in Germany.
