Debbie Wasserman Schultz, currently serving as a U.S. Congress representative for Florida’s 25th district, took to social media on May 22, 2025, to express her views on recent legislative developments and a tragic incident involving antisemitic violence.
In a post from the morning of May 22, Wasserman Schultz criticized a Republican bill that had recently passed. She stated, “The ugly Republican bill passed, but the fight isn’t over.” She pledged to continue advocating for reduced costs for American families despite the challenges it may pose.
Later that day, she joined Jewish Democrats in paying respects to victims of an antisemitic hate crime at the Capital Jewish Museum. In her post about this event, she wrote: “Today I joined Jewish Democrats to pay respects to Sarah & Yaron, who were murdered in an antisemitic hate crime at @CapJewishMuseum last night.” Wasserman Schultz condemned the violence by stating that no cause could justify such actions.
On the same day, she shared further details about the victims’ circumstances before their deaths. According to her post: “Sarah and Yaron were murdered after attending an event for young professionals focused on humanitarian aid and peace.” She emphasized the personal impact of this tragedy by noting that it could have affected her staff or family.

Prior to her current role in Congress, she served in both the Florida Senate and House of Representatives. Born in Queens in 1966 and now residing in Weston, she graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in 1988.
