U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who serves Florida’s 25th district in Congress, marked Martin Luther King Jr. Day with several public appearances and reflections on Dr. King’s legacy, according to her recent posts on social media.
On January 18, 2026, Wasserman Schultz shared her participation in a local event: “It was great to join Mayor Steve Breitkreuz and Southwest Ranches residents at the Country Fair yesterday! Hearing directly from my neighbors is how I best represent them.”
The following day, she posted about the significance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day: “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. taught us much about building a more perfect union. Celebrating his legacy sharpens our resolve to pursue America’s promise of justice and opportunity for all through the ballot and peaceful protest. #MLKDay” (January 19, 2026).
Later that same day, Wasserman Schultz highlighted her involvement in local commemorations: “Honored to join @MYHBeach, @CityofPPines, and @TownofDavie to celebrate #MLKDay! So proud to pay tribute to the work and legacy of Dr. King, who demanded that America live up to its promise of true freedom and equality.” (January 19, 2026).
Wasserman Schultz has represented Florida’s 25th district since 2005 after serving in both the Florida Senate and House of Representatives earlier in her career. She was born in Queens, New York in 1966 and currently resides in Weston. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida earned in 1988.
