U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who represents Florida’s 25th district in Congress, shared updates on legislative efforts and advocacy through a series of posts on May 14 and 15, 2026.
On May 14, Wasserman Schultz highlighted her ongoing commitment to cancer survivors, referencing her own experience: “As a cancer survivor, it’s my personal & professional mission to confront it with an all-hands-on-deck approach. Today, I introduced the bipartisan Lainie Jones Comprehensive Cancer Survivorship Act to help survivors choose their own path & control their healthcare experience.”
Later that day, she addressed the situation of Cuban political prisoners Maykel and Luis Manuel: “For years, I’ve called for Cuban political prisoners Maykel and Luis Manuel to be freed. The regime offered them exile, only to rip it away due to an arbitrary deadline from Trump. Secretary Rubio must demand their immediate, unconditional freedom. They’ve suffered long enough.”
On May 15, Wasserman Schultz marked Jewish American History Month alongside Rep. Nikema Williams: “As co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Black-Jewish Relations, @RepNikema and I proudly celebrate Jewish American History Month:”
Wasserman Schultz has served in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Peter Deutsch and previously held positions in both the Florida Senate (2000-2004) and Florida House of Representatives (1992-2000). She was born in Queens in 1966 and currently resides in Weston. Schultz is a graduate of the University of Florida with a BA earned in 1988.
