U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who has represented Florida’s 25th district in Congress since 2005, highlighted her recent community engagement and support for labor rights through a series of social media posts between August 31 and September 2, 2025.
On August 31, Wasserman Schultz posted about her involvement with the FLITE Center, an organization that supports vulnerable youth in South Florida. She wrote: “Each year, FLITE Center lifts up over 2,000 children aging from foster care,
chronically homeless youth, human trafficking survivors, and so many others.
I was proud to attend their health and employment fair, and will continue to support their amazing work.”
In another post on September 1 marking Labor Day, she addressed the importance of unions in American society. Wasserman Schultz stated: “Unions that built America are under attack, so it’s critical to honor these workers and organizers who keep America strong, and raise the wage and work conditions bar for all of us.
Happy Labor Day #FL25!”
The following day on September 2, she commented on ongoing efforts by workers to improve labor conditions amid political challenges. She wrote: “While Trump guts workers protections, our brothers and sisters are still fighting for (and winning) higher wages and safer workplaces.
I was proud to join the @braflcio Labor Ball and support these champions for our working families.”
Wasserman Schultz has served as a member of Congress representing Florida’s 25th District since replacing Peter Deutsch in 2005. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in both the Florida Senate from 2000 to 2004 and the Florida House of Representatives from 1992 to 2000. Born in Queens, New York in 1966, she currently resides in Weston. Schultz is also a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree earned in 1988.
