U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who serves Florida’s 25th district in Congress, posted a series of updates on social media highlighting local achievements, oversight concerns at a federal detention facility, and her ongoing support for small businesses.
On April 12, 2026, Wasserman Schultz congratulated a local team on their recent success: “Congrats to @FlanaganWG on their 2nd place finish at the World Guard International competition! To place 2nd out of 359 teams from 38 states and 4 countries is simply amazing! They make Florida proud.”
Later that day, she addressed obstacles encountered during an official visit: “I wasn’t allowed to speak with ICE or detainees during my visit to the Everglades detention camp. Blocking congressional oversight is illegal. I’ll keep fighting for accountability for this monument to cruelty.”
The following morning, Wasserman Schultz shared her involvement with local entrepreneurs: “Great to join small business owners with America’s Business Networking to share how I can help them, in DC and at my small business workshop in Florida. I’ll do all I can to support our local businesses.”
Wasserman Schultz has represented Florida’s 25th district since replacing Peter Deutsch in Congress in 2005. She previously served in both the Florida Senate and House of Representatives before entering Congress. Born in Queens, New York in 1966, she currently resides in Weston and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida.
