U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who represents Florida’s 25th district in Congress, posted a series of updates on her official social media account highlighting recent efforts in environmental protection and community safety.
On March 11, 2026, Wasserman Schultz described participating with University of Florida researchers to address the problem of invasive pythons in the Everglades. She wrote, “Pythons damage the sensitive Everglades ecology, so I joined @UF Gator researchers to track and catch one to control this invasive species. It helps me see all the threats to our River of Grass, and better protect it and the drinking water it provides to millions of Floridians.”
The following day, March 12, she announced a federal funding initiative aimed at supporting Broward County’s marine industry. In her post she stated, “Proud to deliver a $1M federal investment to protect and promote Broward’s marine industry and strengthen economic opportunity in Dania Beach. I’ll always work to invest in local infrastructure that prevents contamination, preserves ecosystems, and keeps our waters healthy.”
Later on March 12, Wasserman Schultz responded to an incident at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. She posted: “I’m grateful security kept people safe during the terror attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield today. My heart is with their community and I’m glad everyone is okay. As antisemitism and hate rise, we need non-profit security grant funding at all synagogues and Jewish and”
Wasserman Schultz has served as a member of Congress since 2005 after succeeding Peter Deutsch. Prior to her congressional service representing Florida’s 25th District, she was a member of both the Florida Senate (2000-2004) and the Florida House of Representatives (1992-2000). Born in Queens, New York in 1966, she currently resides in Weston. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in 1988.
