Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a U.S. Congress member representing Florida’s 25th district since 2005, has been vocal on various issues through her social media presence. Born in Queens, New York, and now residing in Weston, she has a long history of public service including roles in the Florida Senate and House of Representatives.
On May 16, 2025, Schultz expressed her support for postal workers during a meeting with NPMHU Local 318. She addressed concerns regarding what she described as “the Trump Administration’s endless attacks on @USPS and collective bargaining.” Schultz affirmed her commitment to supporting postal workers with the statement: “I’ll always support our postal workers. #HANDSOFFUSPS”.
Later that day, Schultz shared her pride in leading House Democrats in recognizing Jewish American Heritage Month. She highlighted the Jewish community’s dedication to tikkun olam, or repairing the world, stating: “As Jews, we have a long-standing commitment to tikkun olam – to repair the world – and we take great pride on the impact we have made for generations.”
In another post from May 16, Schultz criticized actions taken by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), noting that nine people had died in DHS detention over four months. She also raised concerns about lawful immigrants and citizens being separated from their families and over 300 individuals disappearing into what she referred to as a concentration camp. Schultz directed criticism at Secretary Noem with the comment: “@SecNoem should stop reading Hollywood pitches and try the Constitution instead.”
Schultz graduated from the University of Florida in 1988 with a BA.
