Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 25th district, shared updates on congressional oversight, community engagement, and federal funding initiatives in a series of tweets posted on February 2, 2026.
In her first post of the day, Wasserman Schultz addressed congressional oversight responsibilities regarding detention facilities. She stated, “This is the right decision. Members of Congress must be able to conduct oversight, especially now, as abuses surge.
I proudly led the effort to enact unannounced detention visits in Trump’s first term. All Members should use this power to hold DHS accountable.” (posted February 2, 2026).
Later that evening, she invited constituents to participate in a town hall event focused on healthcare costs and recent Department of Homeland Security activities. She wrote, “Join me and Nancy-Ann DeParle, former Deputy Chief of Staff for President Obama, at a Town Hall TOMORROW at 6pm to discuss the high costs America faces, the latest on ACA tax credits and recent DHS activity, including ICE and FEMA.

Wasserman Schultz also highlighted her role in supporting local communities through federal investment workshops: “As a senior member of @AppropsDems, I bring federal investments back to our community.
To make the process accessible, I held a workshop to guide South Florida cities & non-profits to help secure even more funds. I’ll always fight for the resources our communities need.” (posted February 2, 2026).
Debbie Wasserman Schultz has represented Florida’s 25th district in Congress since 2005 after serving in both chambers of the Florida legislature. She was born in Queens, New York in 1966 and currently resides in Weston. Schultz graduated from the University of Florida with a BA in 1988.
