Debbie Wasserman Schultz, currently serving as the U.S. Congress representative for Florida’s 25th district, has been active on social media recently, sharing her thoughts and initiatives. Representing South Florida since 2005 after succeeding Peter Deutsch, Wasserman Schultz continues to engage with her constituents through various platforms.
On May 11, 2025, she extended warm wishes for Mother’s Day to all mothers in South Florida. Reflecting on her own experience as a mother of three, she expressed appreciation for the “honor (and work!) that comes with being a mom.” She encouraged everyone to “celebrate moms everywhere today and thank them for the work they do to make life better for families across the country.”
The following day, on May 12, 2025, Wasserman Schultz addressed a pressing international issue involving American hostages held by Hamas. She announced leading a bipartisan effort alongside Representative Mike Lawler to urge the White House towards diplomatic action aimed at securing their release. Expressing optimism about one hostage’s potential return home, Edan, she emphasized “the necessity of using every diplomatic tool possible to secure their release.”
Later that same day, Wasserman Schultz visited Silver Ridge Elementary School where she engaged with third graders about the branches of government. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was born in Queens in 1966 and resides in Weston. A University of Florida alumna with a BA earned in 1988, she also served in both chambers of the Florida Legislature prior to her current congressional role.
