Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 25th district since 2005, has shared her thoughts on various issues through recent social media posts. Her communications reflect her commitment to cultural recognition, education, and immigration policy.
On May 4, 2025, Wasserman Schultz highlighted the significance of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. She expressed pride in celebrating “the rich history, culture, and contributions of South Florida’s #AANHPI community.”
The following day, May 5, she acknowledged the vital role of educators during Teacher Appreciation Week. She praised teachers as “role models, mentors and tireless student advocates,” emphasizing their impact beyond traditional teaching roles.
In another post on May 5, Wasserman Schultz discussed immigration policy by mentioning her leadership among Democrats urging action from Secretary Noem regarding Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuelans. In her tweet she stated, “TPS holders pass background checks and pay taxes,” criticizing former President Trump’s approach towards these individuals by saying he wants to “subject hardworking families to a criminal regime.”
Wasserman Schultz has been active in politics for several decades. Born in Queens in 1966 and currently residing in Weston, she began her political career in the Florida House of Representatives before moving to the Florida Senate. She holds a BA from the University of Florida.
