Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 25th district, shared her views on various issues through a series of tweets on May 21, 2025.
In her first tweet at 10:23 AM, Wasserman Schultz criticized the timing of a Republican meeting, which began at 1 AM. She accused Republicans of attempting to pass what she described as a “Big Ugly Bill” in order to “hide their plans to rip healthcare and other vital services away from millions of Americans.” She stated that she arrived at 5:30 AM to join her Democratic colleagues in opposition.
At 12:38 PM, Wasserman Schultz paid tribute to Gerry Connolly, describing him as “the most decent, genuine, devoted public servant.” She highlighted his love for his family and constituents and commended his dedication to federal workers. She also noted his battle with cancer, equating it with the determination he showed in all his endeavors.
Later in the day at 2:00 PM, Wasserman Schultz expressed concerns about former President Trump’s impact on safety projects managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. She alleged that Trump was engaging in political games that jeopardized critical safety initiatives across the nation. The tweet encouraged followers to watch Democrats on the Appropriations Committee seeking answers regarding these concerns.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz has been serving in Congress since 2005 after replacing Peter Deutsch. Her career also includes tenure in both the Florida Senate and House of Representatives before joining Congress. Born in Queens, New York, she is an alumna of the University of Florida and currently resides in Weston.
