Debbie Wasserman Schultz, currently serving as a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 25th district, has voiced her opinions on various legislative matters through recent tweets. Serving since 2005, Schultz succeeded Peter Deutsch and has a background in both the Florida Senate and House of Representatives.

On May 8, 2025, Schultz expressed her disapproval of a proposal to rename the Gulf of Mexico. She stated, “Just voted HELL NO on renaming the Gulf of Mexico. It’s a waste of time.” She urged Republicans to focus on more pressing issues such as lowering costs rather than engaging in what she referred to as “name games.”

Later that day, Schultz addressed the status of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) recipients in the United States. She clarified their lawful presence and lack of criminal records by tweeting, “TPS recipients aren’t lawbreakers — they’re here lawfully and none of them have criminal records.” In collaboration with Representatives Darren Soto and Maria Salazar, she emphasized efforts to support Venezuelan American families while advocating for Venezuela’s liberation from dictatorship.
