U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who represents Florida’s 25th district in Congress, used her Twitter account on May 11, 2026, to highlight concerns about the rising cost of living and changes to educational curricula in Florida.
In a tweet posted at 16:04 UTC on May 11, Wasserman Schultz wrote: “Americans struggle to afford food, gas, and healthcare, but Republicans ask taxpayers to pay $1 billion for a ballroom. I convened Floridians at the gas station today to sound the alarm about how unaffordable life under Trump has become, and propose solutions to this crisis.” She followed up with another post directing followers to further information: “Learn more: https://t.co/GHjGv8dDnM”.
Later that day at 18:36 UTC, Wasserman Schultz addressed education policy in Florida by tweeting: “DeSantis is whitewashing slavery and erasing Black history (again). His new ‘US history’ course, written by a right-wing hack, doesn’t mention racism once in 214 pages. Our students shouldn’t be denied a chance to learn what Black Americans fought to overcome.”
Wasserman Schultz has represented Florida’s 25th district since 2005 after succeeding Peter Deutsch. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Florida Senate from 2000 to 2004 and the Florida House of Representatives from 1992 to 2000. Born in Queens, New York in 1966 and currently residing in Weston, she earned her BA from the University of Florida in 1988.
