Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 25th district since 2005, posted a series of statements on social media addressing economic and political issues facing Americans.
On February 15, 2026, she criticized Republican efforts regarding inflation and cost-of-living concerns, writing: “A year ago, Republicans promised to tackle rising prices. Yet they’ve only gone up, with not a single bill brought to the House floor to meaningfully confront rising costs.
Let’s be clear: the cost-of-living crisis is very real, and we can fix it if we act.”
The following day, February 16, 2026, Wasserman Schultz commented on Presidents Day by contrasting former President Donald Trump with previous American leaders: “Today we honor American leaders who met adversity with honesty and courage.
While Trump ignores everyday Americans to help wealthy elites, this Presidents Day I vow to fight for you and honor past leaders who served all American families with courage.”
Later that same day, she addressed funding changes affecting Medicare and Medicaid as well as actions by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents: “The $150B in DHS funding that Republicans stole from Medicare and Medicaid in their Big, Ugly Law is clearly not being spent in line with American values.
The senseless, brutal violence has to end. The DHS agents at fault must be held accountable, as should DHS leadership.”
Wasserman Schultz has had a long career in public service. Before her tenure in Congress began in 2005—when she replaced Peter Deutsch—she served in both the Florida Senate from 2000 to 2004 and the Florida House of Representatives from 1992 to 2000. She was born in Queens, New York in 1966 and currently resides in Weston. Wasserman Schultz graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988.
