Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 25th district since 2005, has expressed her views on recent international and domestic issues through social media. Known for her long-standing political career, which includes service in both the Florida Senate and House of Representatives, Wasserman Schultz shared her thoughts on two significant matters via Twitter.
On June 8, 2025, Wasserman Schultz addressed an incident involving Colombian politician Miguel Uribe Turbay. Her message was mirrored in English as she added: “I join all Colombians in condemning the attempted assassination of Miguel Uribe Turbay and expressing hope for his recovery. This cowardly attack evokes the worst days of the Colombian conflict, and those responsible must be held accountable.”
Later that day, Wasserman Schultz commented on conditions at a detention center in South Florida. She reported: “I recently conducted oversight at Krome Detention Center in South Florida. It’s wall-to-wall people there, detained in unsanitary conditions. It’s inhumane, and needs to end.”
Wasserman Schultz continues to serve actively in Congress while addressing both international concerns and local issues affecting her constituents.
