Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 25th district since 2005, recently addressed several significant issues via her social media platform. Schultz has been an active member of the political landscape, with prior experience in both the Florida Senate and House of Representatives.
On May 17, 2025, Schultz criticized Secretary of Veterans Affairs for allegedly redirecting VA funds without congressional approval or proof of their intended use. She stated, “I called out @SecVetAffairs for redirecting VA funds without congressional approval, or even proof that it went where he claimed.” She expressed dissatisfaction with his response and emphasized that she and the Appropriations Democrats would continue to seek answers regarding these concerns.
Later that day, Schultz announced the commencement of the 2025 Congressional App Challenge in collaboration with Broward Schools. Her tweet read: “This morning, we kicked off the 2025 Congressional App Challenge with @browardschools! I’m so thankful to have a community that supports our next generation of leaders and fosters important, cutting-edge skills that will last them a lifetime.”
On May 18, 2025, Schultz participated in discussions with NALC 1071 concerning former President Trump’s policies affecting postal workers. She tweeted: “Glad to join NALC 1071 to discuss how we fight Trump’s attacks on our postal workers. America was built by unions. I’ll always stand by our workers as they demand better wages and working conditions.”
Schultz’s background includes a BA from the University of Florida obtained in 1988. Born in Queens, New York in 1966, she currently resides in Weston.
