U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who represents Florida’s 25th district in Congress, recently posted a series of updates on her official social media account addressing military benefits and cancer advocacy.
On March 21, 2026, Wasserman Schultz highlighted her commitment to improving conditions for service members: “Our Marines deserve quality living conditions and benefits for their service and sacrifice to our country. As the lead @AppropsDems on the Military Construction and VA subcommittee, I met with @USMarineCorps Sergeant Major Ruiz to discuss how we’ll do it.”
Later that day, she referenced her personal experience with cancer in a post about breast cancer awareness legislation: “Since my own cancer battle, I’m determined to fight for others at risk. Nobody should face this alone. My EARLY Act helps increase breast cancer awareness and ensure more people catch it early, helping them survive. We must reauthorize this vital program.”
On March 22, Wasserman Schultz reported attending a policy roundtable hosted by a cancer advocacy organization: “Honored to be back at @CancerAdvocacy’s Policy Roundtable. For decades, it’s been a place the cancer community gathers to discuss policies that ensures we get cancer care that helps us thrive. As a survivor and policy maker, it’s invaluable.”
Wasserman Schultz has served in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Peter Deutsch. She previously held positions in both the Florida Senate (2000-2004) and the Florida House of Representatives (1992-2000). Born in Queens, New York in 1966, she currently resides in Weston and holds a BA from the University of Florida.
