Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a U.S. Congress member representing Florida’s 25th district since 2005, and a University of Florida graduate, has been vocal on several pressing issues via recent social media posts. Her communications address maternal health disparities, social security protection, and academic achievements of student-athletes.
On April 14, Wasserman Schultz highlighted disparities in maternal mortality rates, stating that “Black moms are 3x more likely to die in childbirth than white women.” She stands as a member of the Black Maternal Health Caucus and a cosponsor of the Momnibus Act, declaring her ongoing fight against these inequalities.
The following day, April 15, she addressed concerns over social security, asserting, “You worked hard and earned your retirement. Now Trump and Musk want to steal it.” She emphasized that Democrats will continue to protect Social Security.
Later that day, she celebrated academic and athletic achievements, following the Florida Gators’ basketball national championship win. She noted, “Fresh off of the @GatorsMBK National Championship win, I got to hear from Bennett Andersen, who also won an Elite 90 award for his academic success!” Wasserman Schultz praised the hard work of these student-athletes on and off the court, reiterating her connection to the University of Florida.
