Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 25th district, shared her thoughts on social media regarding various political issues affecting her constituents and broader national policies.
On May 13, 2025, Wasserman Schultz tweeted about a meeting with seniors in Hallandale Beach, discussing concerns over “Trump’s attacks on Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.” She acknowledged their fears and assured them of her commitment to “always fight to protect the programs they rely on.”
The following day, May 14, 2025, she posted about the Republican party’s attempt to implement “$1 trillion in Medicaid and food assistance cuts” through the House. She emphasized that these cuts would significantly impact “tens of millions of Americans” and noted that “110,000 people in my district count on Medicaid.” The tweet included a commitment from Democrats who “fought it all night” against these proposed reductions.
Later that day, Wasserman Schultz addressed the House GOP directly in a tweet, suggesting improvements to their message by inviting Spanish-speaking followers to join her WhatsApp channel for updates on how she is defending working families from what she describes as the “MAGA scam.”
Debbie Wasserman Schultz has been an influential figure since taking office in 2005 after succeeding Peter Deutsch. Before serving in Congress, she was part of the Florida Senate and House of Representatives. A graduate of the University of Florida with a BA degree obtained in 1988, she continues to reside in Weston.
