Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a current serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 25th district, has recently made statements on pressing issues via her social media account. Her comments draw attention to immigration proceedings and tax policies, reflecting her continued advocacy for families and young immigrants.

On April 22, 2025, Wasserman Schultz expressed her concerns over situations where “a four year old [is put] before a judge without an adult.” She criticized Republicans for “traumatizing innocent children in their rush to tear apart families.” Highlighting her legislative efforts, she stated, “I helped sponsor a bill to ensure minors ALWAYS have access to counsel.”

Later that day, she addressed changes in legal representation for unaccompanied minors. Wasserman Schultz noted, “Tras despedir a los abogados que representan a niños desacompañados, el gobierno ahora exige que los jóvenes se representan a si mismos en los procedimientos migratorios.” She added that she had also contributed to creating legislation that guarantees “los jóvenes inmigrantes siempre puedan acceder al consejo.”

In another statement on April 23, 2025, Wasserman Schultz commented on proposed tax changes: “Republicans want to give billionaires even more tax breaks – and make life less affordable for the rest of us, to pull it off.” Her remarks indicate opposition to proposals she believes disproportionately favor billionaires over average citizens.

Wasserman Schultz, born in Queens, New York in 1966, has a longstanding record in politics. She continues to serve in Congress after taking over from Peter Deutsch in 2005. With a background in both state and federal legislative bodies, and an academic background from the University of Florida, her focus remains on these issues affecting her constituents.
