Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 25th district, has raised concerns on social media about the impact of the ongoing government shutdown and what she calls a “Republican healthcare crisis” on Floridians.
On October 10, 2025, Wasserman Schultz posted, “Florida will get clobbered if this Republican healthcare crisis gets worse. Democrats are fighting to reopen government with a spending plan that protects our coverage, especially for older Floridians.”
Later that day, after meeting with TSA and Customs employees at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (@FLLFlyer), she wrote on X: “I met with TSA and Customs employees at @FLLFlyer today. They made two things clear: 1. The cost of living is way too high 2. We must end this GOP healthcare crisis and shutdown immediately, and get public servants the pay they earn I’ll fight to ensure these issues get fixed.” This post highlighted both economic pressures faced by federal workers and her call for an end to the shutdown.
On October 11, Wasserman Schultz announced an upcoming event: “This Wednesday at 7PM I’ll host a town hall with former OMB Director @ShalandaYoung46 to share what Democrats are doing to prevent the healthcare crisis from getting worse, and give you the latest on the ongoing government shutdown. You can join us by calling 833-946-1550.”
Wasserman Schultz has served in Congress since 2005 after succeeding Peter Deutsch. She previously held positions in both chambers of Florida’s state legislature before her election to Congress ([source](https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/W000797)). Born in Queens in 1966, she currently resides in Weston and holds a BA from the University of Florida.
The recent posts reflect her continued engagement with constituents regarding national policy debates affecting health care access and federal worker compensation amid political gridlock.
