U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who serves Florida’s 25th district, addressed several policy concerns and advocacy efforts in a series of posts on her social media account in mid-September 2025.
On September 16, 2025, Wasserman Schultz wrote, “Trump illegally froze funding for emergency shelters. I fought to secure these programs to support Floridians who lose their homes after hurricanes, but now Trump is stealing it to fund tax cuts for his rich friends.” The statement highlights her ongoing efforts to secure resources for disaster relief and her criticism of the reallocation of funds away from emergency shelter programs.
Later that day, she posted about public health research and cancer advocacy: “Decades of public health research are being undermined by pseudo-science and handouts to the ultra-rich. I was proud to join @ACSCAN to tell my cancer story and hear the stories of others. We need every survivor and every family to raise their voice to protect cancer research.” In this message, Wasserman Schultz shared her personal experience with cancer while urging continued support for scientific research.
The following day, on September 17, she turned attention toward local business initiatives: “Great to meet with @FloridaMakes to discuss how I can best support Florida’s entrepreneurs with the Manufacturing Extension Partnership, and protect it from proposed cuts. I’ll always work to help our local Florida businesses succeed.” The post emphasized her commitment to supporting entrepreneurs through federal partnerships aimed at strengthening manufacturing in Florida.
Wasserman Schultz has represented Florida’s 25th congressional district since 2005 after succeeding Peter Deutsch. She previously served in both chambers of the Florida Legislature between 1992 and 2004. Born in Queens, New York in 1966 and currently residing in Weston, she graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988.
