U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who serves Florida’s 25th district, recently addressed a range of issues on her social media accounts, including human rights in Cuba, local economic development, and healthcare policy.
On December 12, 2025, Wasserman Schultz posted about the Cuban government’s treatment of protesters following the July 11, 2021 demonstrations. She wrote: “The Cuban regime has jailed and tortured 1,000+ people who peacefully demanded freedom on July 11, 2021. Esteban Rodríguez was one of them. I stand with him as we fight to free every political prisoner and ensure all Cubans—including here in the U.S.— can live free from fear.”
Later that day, she commented on her ongoing efforts related to Port Everglades: “I’ll always work hard to continue the growth of the mighty @PortEverglades engine and reduce harmful health and environmental impacts to our local communities. So glad to meet with the Port’s leadership this week!” The post highlights her commitment to balancing economic growth with environmental concerns in South Florida.
On December 13, Wasserman Schultz turned her attention to national healthcare policy as deadlines for Affordable Care Act tax credits approached. She stated: “ACA tax credits expire at the end of the month. If they do, millions of Americans will be priced out of healthcare coverage. Republicans must come to the table and negotiate an extension.”
Wasserman Schultz has served in Congress since 2005 after replacing Peter Deutsch and previously held positions in both chambers of Florida’s state legislature.[1] Born in Queens, New York in 1966, she currently resides in Weston.[2] She is a graduate of the University of Florida.[3]
