Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who represents Florida’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to address a range of public health and policy issues in a series of posts dated September 2 and 3, 2025.
On September 2, Wasserman Schultz promoted an upcoming event focused on cancer survivorship, writing: “Join keynote speaker and Florida Panthers President Bill Zito and I at my second Cancer Survivorship Summit, where we’ll address life after diagnosis, highlight gaps in care, discuss policy, and provide local and national resources. RSVP here: https://t.co/7zNbptxvEv https://t.co/SCmtsdBADY”.
The following day, she criticized Republican lawmakers for supporting legislation that she claims reduces consumer protections. On September 3 she posted: “Yet again, Republicans cave to billionaires while making life more expensive for the rest of us with a bill that slashes consumer protections and lets corporations scam Americans out of their hard-earned paycheck. Watch @AppropsDems fight back: https://t.co/zrnMLUtifU”.
Later that same day, Wasserman Schultz addressed public health concerns regarding vaccines in Florida. She stated: “We require vaccines because they keep all kids, schools, and communities safe. Florida has seen spikes in infectious diseases like measles, diseases we had virtually eliminated before Ladapo took office. This decision is reckless and makes Floridians less safe.”
Wasserman Schultz has served as a member of Congress since 2005 after succeeding Peter Deutsch. Before her tenure in the House of Representatives for Florida’s 25th district—a position she continues to hold—she was a member of both the Florida Senate from 2000 to 2004 and the Florida House of Representatives from 1992 to 2000. Born in Queens, New York in 1966, Wasserman Schultz currently resides in Weston. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida in 1988.
